    Sixpack's Six Cents Worth

Nationals was a treat! What a great time doing what I love to do bowl! I shot good in team event 191, 223, 204 for a 618 and a nice profit in the brackets. That was a 2:30 squad in the afternoon so the 7 am squad the next day in doubles and singles was fun. I bowled a 56? something in doubles and a 497 in singles. I just did not have the right ball in my hand the second day. The harder I tried the worse I got. Anyway, I donated the second day in brackets and leads me to the real question of this blog.

What are we bowlers going to do next year when the Nationals are in Vegas and the airlines are charging us outrageous fees for the extra weight, bags, etc. I left one of my bowling balls at home this time because of the fees and ofcourse that's the one I needed for the second day. (It sounds like a good excuse!) Hey, it still cost me $50 at check-in at the airport. I shipped them home from the tourney site and saved all of $10. Anyway, back to my plan.

I am going to save all the money in shipping costs and fees and just buy a ball or two at the site and have them drill it for the condition. I bowl late enough in the tourney they should know what works. Then I break even and just ship them back and I have some new equipment. What do you think? I can't bowl any worse doing it that way can I?

Let me know how everyone is going to get around the airlines' fees. I know Southwest is saying they have no fees, but we will see if that lasts a year!

    Good Luck to All,

    Sixpack's Six Cents Worth

Wow! I bowled my first regional in 4 years today and it was burtle!

First let me say I bowled bad and I'm not making excusses. I showed up to bowl and thought I found the ball that would work. I stared with the Conquorer from Lane Master. It is drilled to start a little earlier than the rest of my equipment. We were playing on the Scorpion pattern and it was pretty slick or tight. I had 3 lefties on my pair so you would think I could line up off of the other guys.

Well, I started the first game with the front 5 and thought this is going to be a great day. I leave a pocket 7-10 in the 10th for a 211 and the wind is out of my sails. After that it was a lot of mental mistakes that did me in.

I had 3 games over 200, 3 games under 170, and 2 around 190. My spare game was pretty good as only missed 1 single pin spare, picked up 3 splits, and 1 washout. All in all, I can't complain too much. I just made some bad mental errors on when to change balls, etc.

Yeah! I did not get last place and I wasn't the low left-hander, so there are some small wins to take away from this. I expect to throw the ball really good in league this week.

Good Luck to all who advanced! It was a tough field and know whoever wins will have earned it and it wasn't a fluke.

There were no ladies tees today!
